We are the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRI), a private, non-profit organisation founded in 1986 in Catalonia. We foster a scientific culture within society, encourage scientific and technical vocations among young people, and facilitate public-private collaboration in the fields of science, technology, and knowledge.
Mission
To become a valuable benchmark organisation in knowledge and strengthening of R&D&I structures in Catalonia, developing versatile and specific proposals, with a wide scope, especially in scientific communication and dissemination; in encouraging science careers and STEM training; and in promoting transfer of technology and understanding between science and business, at both public and private levels.
Vision
FCRI has a significant and active involvement in building knowledge society and economy, in order to achieve a sustainable and sustained development and to improve the standard of living of the whole population.
Society & Education
We develop high-impact initiatives to increase public interest in knowledge, research, innovation, and technology. At the same time, we promote scientific and technical careers and foster interest in STEAM subjects in schools and colleges.
Academia
We recognise the work and impact of scientists and various actors in the Catalan research system, and raise the international profile of Catalonia’s knowledge hub.
Public-private collaboration
We foster interaction between both sectors in R&D and the transfer of knowledge from research to industry through collaborative projects, while also encouraging science-based entrepreneurship.
The Board of Trustees, composed of both public and private employers, is the governing and administrative body of the FCRI. It represents and manages the organisation, assuming all the operations and functions necessary to achieve the foundation’s goals. Trustees serve on the board free of charge.
